And this week....

I have gold sneakers which i love and am sure they make me run faster and do things better, thanks so much Andrea. Um sorry but took our spaniel for a walk with them and although we did enjoy running and skipping I also got a few little paw marks and my sparkly sneakers. Consider them officially christened, you cant avoid the mud up here, we have some dirt roads around our property!

Andrea is such a sweet heart, she also sent me these little birdies (and a butterfly) for my antique cage. I had been looking for them everywhere and seem to be sold out around here so THANKYOU again!!

My friend Karen from Quirky Werx Antiques here in Olinda, kept these beautiful French enamel canisters for me for ages and finally I was able to bring them home ~ YAY! I think they look lovely in our kitchen but am not actually filling up each canister with exactly what it says ;0)

Oh by the way QUIRKY WERX ANTIQUES is moving to Sassafras up here on the mountain this week, should be opening Friday, so do pop in and say hi to Karen, say Alicia sent you!!

But wait theres more... in fact there is more goodies every week at my TIME WORN STYLE store
Gorgeous little blue vanity case, havent seen another like it with the mirror in the lid, too cute!

Pretty little JERGER clock made in Germany, and she works too!

My favourite piece this week at my store, this is a SILVER BRIDAL BASKET with the most amazing engravings of hummingbirds to the top ~ just divine ~ and dates from the 1800's

And I just can't go past a CRINOLINE LADY. This is one of those gorgeous round mirrors with a handpainted lady with foxgloves and hollyhocks.

So sweet and all available tonight at TIME WORN STYLE

Out with the old..

Yes folks I'm finally doing it, moving on some of my favourite furniture from what seems to me to be a different time in my life.

Used to be right into the old "shabby chic" style and enjoyed it very much. But dont you think it's a bit like the old yellow and blue decor from the 1980's, a bit of a phase?? So this time to a more elegant look (well in my opinion, mind you I will never completely give up the roses!!) But like some early "shabby chic friends" who turned out to be not at all what I thought they were, time to discard ~ including these so called "friends" and I use that term very loosely ~ and move on to much better things ;0)

Ok and I still do have a few white pieces that I love and ok they may well have some rosey china or stuff on them but um still, I did mean the other bits.

So here they are (above), if you have followed my ebay auctions you would have seen them in many of my listings, they made a great backdrop. You can purchase them at my ebay store if you would like!

AUTHORS NOTE: all comments regarding shabby chic in this post is purely the authors opinion and in no way denegrates or belittles other peoples love of said decorating movement ;0)) (plus if you had a sticky through the authors humble abode you would find heaps of white and flowery stuff still ~ author struggles with giving up flowery eiderdowns etc)

A bluestone cottage

Latest renovation project here at Greystanes is getting the floorboards polished. (will post some pics soon once I have the furniture back in)

Anyone who has experienced that joy also knows that you can not live in the same house whilst it is being done ~ the fumes are VERY strong.

So we had a little holiday here in Olinda where the tourists normally stay.

Here is there website if you would like to stay there for a little holiday ~ Loft in the Mill

A little blue stone cottage at the Loft in the Mill as shown in the pictures above with our youngest cherub ~ it was very handy for us being just over the road from Greystanes as the kids could still catch the bus to school etc. So no major changes required plus we got the use of a spa and a bit of pampering whilst away from home yay!

Smocked vintage cushions...

Thanks for entering my birthday giveaway everyone, will have a winner on Sunday and will announce it here on the blog plus a picture of the prize so do check back!!

Don't you just love these old vintage cushions, they go under several names, pinwheel, smocked, round vintage and someone told me once that they made them at school as part of their home economic sewing lessons...

This is a real vintage one (above) I currently have available for purchase in my ebay store

And the one below is one I made myself. Yes folks I know how to SEW! Dont do much of it these days but used to sew everything from my own clothes to rabbits in Christening gowns to curtains and quilts when I was younger. Three kids later, not so much lol!

Got to feel pretty movtivated to do it these days and this was the result...

How did it start, well I came across an old Simplicity sewing pattern from the 1970's featuring these little darlings and thought what the heck I'll give it a go.

Made it from an old Damask vintage curtain, it took a few days as they are quite fiddly but here it is. They do require a lot more fabric than what you think too, surprisingly so.

I think it turned out ok. Have already sold this one but will make another soon, nice to do something different!
