Oh my, I have found the most gorgeous sconces on my treasure hunt this week.
And I didnt find just one but FOUR!!
And not only that they are DRESDEN CHINA
You can make a bid for them here and they could be yours!
Also found one of my latest passions, Victorian Domes, this one holds the decorations from a Wedding Cake, there is even a little Venetian mirror in there represents the point listed below. The Victorian bride planned their wedding down to the last detail:
WHAT DO THE SYMBOLS IN A WEDDING DOME MEAN?
OAK LEAVES ~ Longevity of Union
SHEAVES OF WHEAT ~ The gift of Life
RECTANGULAR MIRRORS ~ Years of engagement (only one in my dome so they married after a year)
DIAMOND SHAPED MIRRORS ~ fertility
LARGE CENTRAL MIRROR ~ Reflection of the soul
CLUSTERS OF GRAPES ~ Prosperity
ROSES OR DAISIES ~ Love (lots of daisies on the centre basket in my dome)
CHERRIES ~ Protection from bad fortune
IVY ~ Attachment to each other
CHESTNUT TREE LEAVES ~ Links to others.

This wedding dome is over 100 years old so parts of it have collapsed. I would like to put some of the decorations back in place, a little dove has fallen off the gate and the etched mirror to the back is off to one side but I will have a good think about it first before lifting the dome off. Of course the colours have faded too, this is a genuine "time worn" piece.
You know as I go on with my collections I'm noticeing that I am drawn to more unusual and unique items, I've sold off many of my early collections, particularly the pink rosey shabby stuff from the early days. My tastes are changing and moving on, hope I dont end up going totally modern one day..... nah it will never happen ha!

The shades on these sconces are just divine, and look brand new (but are quite old)
Pretty dresser set with roses.
Danish biscuit tin
